Festival Dolls
While Hakobina are the most famous among Yame’s Hina dolls, other festival dolls are also crafted, including hamayumi and hagoita for the Boys’ Festival.
◇Hina-no-sato - Yame Lantern Festival
Yame is a producer of festival dolls and the home of Hina dolls. Some 100 homes and stores around the white-walled streets and central shopping district welcome visitors with displays of Edo and Meiji-era Hakobina (dolls in display cases) alongside modern dolls. This ‘Hina-no-sato - Yame Lantern Festival’ is held from mid-February to mid-March each year.
